Description Unlike the Wayang Kulit shadow puppets, Wayang Klitik puppets were intended to be directly in front of the audience during a performance. These old puppets are becoming more and more difficult to find and performances with Wayang Klitik puppets are increasingly rare. This pair is very old and look like characters from the Ramayana Epic. I've done my best to identify the characters but am not positive on their identities. Quite a bit of wear and aging. Wood puppets are painted & gilded. Arms may be leather but it's hard to tell. Cracks, chips, and wear in the paint. Several cracks in the wood in places but they are still attached to the puppet. After close inspection, I believe the cracks are the seams where pieces were put together and held together with an internal peg. The last photo is of the male figure's nose and if you look carefully between the cracks near the line of ink, you can almost make out a piece of wood peg in there. The female puppet is missing an arm. Please review pictures carefully for condition and for any possible missing parts. Female: 14-3/4" overall height
