Appraised by a discerning connoisseur in the cutler !

Natural whetstones in Japan are all higher-quality ones, however they are
hard to get for ordinary users because of their expensiveness. Therefore,
we sell secondhand natural whetstones used by Japanese professional craftsmen
at popular prices. Japanese natural whetstones are divided into 3 main
types: rough/medium/finishing, though their types can't be judged before
sharpening them, so it is hard to sell them through internet. In addition,
it is impossible to sell exactly what users wish to buy unless the sellers
for them have some knowledge on cutting knives and natural whetstones.
That is why, we ask a 'KIYOTSUNA' craftsman who is a blacksmith having
an ancient and honorable origin as well as a owner of knife sharpener shop,
to sharpen knives actually using every natural whetstone and to judge the
type and quality. |

About Grinding Surface |
When you use a natural whetstone, its grinding surface must be flat. But please note that the natural whetstones we sell don't have flat grinding surface. For those who are used to using natural whetstones, it is easy to make their grinding surface flat, though for novice users maybe a little difficult. Generally, making the surface of a finishing whetstone flat, we use a synthetic whetstone with grain type #1000, or for a middle whetstone, we do a synthetic one with grain type #100. |
