Excellent quality non-flanged M42 to SONY α Alpha (A-mount) adapter. Made of high-impact aluminum. Brand new and boxed.

Use: This mount adapter ring allows manual M42 mount ( aka Pentax screw ) lenses to be mounted on Sony α / Minolta A-mount bodies (i.e. Sony Alpha A33, A35, A37, A55, A57, A58, A65, A77, A99, A100, A200, A230, A290, A300, A330, A350, A380, A390, A450, A500, A550, A560, A580, A700, A850, A900 and Minolta Dynax / Maxxum AF cameras )

Please note:

- This adapter does not fit T2 or M39 screw mounts. Attempting to mount a T2 lens on a M42 adapter will damage the threads on the adapter / lens.

- This adapter only fits the Sony Alpha range of SLRs and SLTs with the Sony "A-mount". It -does not- fit any Sony "E-mount" cameras: this includes the entire NEX range and the new A3000, A3500, A5000, A5100, A6000 mirrorless cameras, which are confusingly marketed by Sony as 'Alpha' or 'Alpha NEX'. These are actually
"E-mount" cameras, and therefore cannot be used with this adapter.

-
This adapter is non-flanged and will not enable aperture control on 'auto' m42 lenses (i.e. lenses with a pin on the m42 screw mount) unless the lens has an 'A/M' or 'Auto/Manual' switch

-
When attached to a DSLR, a M42 lens cannot be controlled electronically from the camera and works in manual mode only, not auto-focus mode. Newer Sony Alpha cameras will let you shoot in aperture priortiy mode, allowing metering, but most older cameras incl the A200, A300 etc will only work in full manual mode ('M' ). Also note that in most recent Sony Alpha cameras the shutter lock must be disenganged in order to use manual lenses. This is because the camera locks the shutter (i.e. won't shoot) by default unless it can communicate with an electonic lens. These options are usually located under the camera's custom settings and are called "Shutter Lock" or "Release w/o lens".
