For sale is a very rare Farnell Alpha Toys Bear on all fours stuffed animal from the 1920's. Farnell is one of the most desirable bear makers. It is a Farnell Teddy Bear that was the inspiration for WInnie the Pooh (purchased at Harrods). This is a very large stand alone bear. It is about 28 inches in length and about 16 inches tall. It bears the Farnell Alpha Toy label on it's belly. This label was used starting around 1926. The shape is quite unusual for a Farnell bear. It is very much like the pull along versions that were also made by Steiff. This bear has no joints. All limbs including head are stationary which points to an earlier construction. Mohair. Stuffed with Excelsior. Metal wire skeleton can be seen through paws. This bear was just removed from long term storage in Los Angeles. It needs some TLC to bring it back to great condition. It will need new eyes and the nose thread is worn. There is a split at the seam near the "tail" section. The ears need to be reattached properly. The paw pads will need to be reattached or replaced. The front legs have bent under a bit and will need a little realignment. There are some wear spots in the mohair but nothing terrible. The underbelly is in nice shape. It would benefit from some cleaning.

Once this bear is back from the full bear spa, it will be the prize of most collections. I will post lots more photos so the condition can be very clearly assessed.
