For sale is an original 19th century landscape painting of a view which we believe may possibly be The Vatican near Rome Italy some time in the 1800's. We are unsure but we've included an additional photo from a view of the Vatican in our pictures and the building seems quite similar.

The painting appears to be an American painting of a European landscape based in the stretcher and frame.

This painting came out of a Hudson Valley estate in upstate New York. Many of the Hudson river school artists traveled throughout parts of Europe and Italy, painting some of the European landscapes for their American buyers when they returned back to America.

It is unsigned as far as we can see.

Condition: Re-lined. Original gilded picture frame is good condition. Painting was re-cleaned and restored. Areas of in-painting touch up/fill in throughout.
