Spencer Edge.

William Millett Spencer Edge was the son of William Millett Edge and Isabella     Fletcher. The Edges owned earthenware companies in Burslem in Staffordshire,     England including Adderleys. Spencer was a designer.

He married Emily Bennett, the sister of the author Arnold Bennett. Bennett was         less than complimentary about Spencer in his letters which have been published.         Emily subsequently divorced him.

This is The Manor, Richard Branson's Country House recording studio famous for firstly bringing us Tubular Bells in the 1970's and then onwards through the decades until its commercial closure in 1995. And previously home to artist William (not JMW) Turner. The manor lies north of Oxford

From a set of 15 pieces of porcelain, some with the mark of Addersley, Burslem,             Staffordshire. They have been hand painted, titled and signed by Spencer Edge,             son of Addersleys owners, probably 1900-1920.

The hand painted scenes capture landmark lanscapes in and around the University             city of Oxford, England. Painted with a light impressionist hand they were perhaps designed to be put into mainstream             production.
