This is a lovely Bona Allen show saddle. It is stamped with the Bona Allen logo on both fenders.

The saddle is extremely well made. The leather, double thickness, which comprises the fenders, is soft and pliable. The beautiful design is a very lovely acorn and oak leaf pattern. There is silver lacing on the cantle, and the front of the pomel, and silver adornments in a number of other areas. The large plates on the rear of the skirts are intricately engraved. The name plate on the cantle bears the name of Sally. It is lightly etched, and would buff out easily. The name plate itself has three dimensional 5 petal daisies which is the trademark of Bona Allen.

The saddle does not show much use.  There are some slightly darker areas on the edge of the seat from use, but they are light. The stirrup leathers are excellent, and adjust by means of Blevins buckles, in line type.  There is very little wear showing on the stirrup leathers, they are thick, flexible, and made of high quality leather.

All of the leather is in good shape, both near and off billets, or cinch straps are very good. The horn is solid, and the tree is tight.  The overall lenght is 25 1/2 inches, so it would fit many shorter backed horses as well.

The gullet measures a full 6 3/4 inches, so this is what is called semi quarter horse bars.  It is, as I said, very well constructed from heavy high quality leather, and weighs about 26 pounds.

Beautiful carving, I have included a couple of close ups so that you can really appreciate the deep, well executed detail.  Nice, nice saddle. I apologize that it was a dark day, and the pictures do not do justice to the saddle.
