Offered here is a replacement 1L6 tube for your Zenith Trans Oceanic built inside a miniature tube envelope!  If you're interested in a solid state replacement that is more "tube-like" in appearance, here it is!  Photo is of a typical unit. 

 1L6 tubes are getting hard to find, and they have a relatively short life.  Just plug this solid-state replacement into the 1L6 socket!  Re-alignment of your radio will not be necessary since the capacitances of this device are very close to those of a 1L6 tube.   It uses the latest JFET and dual-gate MOSFET transistors and easily outperforms the 1L6 on the upper frequency bands with improved sensitivity and conversion gain.   I have run one of these in my transoceanic for many hours with excellent results.   This device should have a virtually unlimited life under normal operating conditions.   A typical unit is shown in the photo.  I have received lots of feedback now and the device has been a great success!  

Also available are solid-state replacements for the 50A1, 1R5, 1U4, 1U5, 1S5, 3V4, 0A2, and 0B2 tubes, as well as a 1LA6 tube to 1L6 adapter.  The 1U4 replacements come in two types, one is intended for use as an RF amplifier (works for the IF also) which offers greater sensitivity than the 1U4 tube, and an IF amplifier 1U4 version that features a highly selective 10 kHz ceramic IF filter!     The sharp cut-off characteristics of the 1U4 have been reproduced for accurate AVC response in both versions.  I usually have several of each type in stock. Please note that standard anti-static handling precautions need to be followed when handling this device, as with all modern electronics.   Once it is installed in your radio this will no longer be a concern.   Also, do not try to"test" this device in a tube tester, it is not a tube and will not test as one, it may be damaged.
