Necklace

A very attractive designer necklace made by Farah Lister, London. This name appears on a small plaque on the back of the gold plated metal bar to which the rows of beads attach at the clasp ends. On the front side the two bars supporting the rows of beads have a waved line running along the length of the bars with little circles, all raised slightly from the background. The metal has a light aged patina.

The clasp is a substantial fish hook clasp and there is a short extension length made from textured metal chain links terminating with a textured golden ball at the end, same as that which appears in the necklace lengths. I am not sure what the beads are made from. They are threaded on wire but considering there are five rows of beads in this necklace, the necklace it not that heavy. These could be metal beads with hollow centres. Or they could be something else, the beads having been gilded and silvered. They are all the same size and they all have a textured surface. Each bead is approx. 3/8ths inch across.

There are two rows of gilded beads and three others which are silvered. However, the silver tones in these three lengths are different. One row is dark silver tone, another is a much lighter silver tone and the third has a silvery-beige tone. Some of the beads, or parts of a particular bead, have aged patina, which adds another diamension so far as colour/tone is concerned. All very attractive in my view.

The necklace is approx. 18 inches in length on the inside row and slightly more on the outside row. The extension is approx. 2 inches in length. Not a heavy necklace as mentioned above, but not a fly weight either! Looks very attractive when around the neck. In very good vintage condition, having come from a collector's estate.
