The Royal Mint have celebrated many happy events with Her Majesty The Queen during her long and eventful reign – birthdays, jubilees and wedding anniversaries. As Queen Elizabeth II turns 90, the first British monarch to celebrate this landmark birthday, the nation will celebrate once again. To mark this royal first, and to wish Her Majesty many happy returns, The Royal Mint released a five-ounce silver coin struck especially for the occasion.

Acclaimed artist Christopher Hobbs has placed the royal cypher at the centre of his design, wrapping it in a classical wreath of celebration. Inspired by Her Majesty’s love of flowers, his roses have a natural appearance, reflecting the fact that this while this is an official occasion it is also a very personal celebration. Approved by The Queen herself.

Issued as legal tender under the authority of The United Kingdom with the latest Jody Clark effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The monetary denomination, and silver content are shown on the coin’s obverse.

Packaging

The coin has been struck in five ounces of 999 fine silver and finished to Proof standard. Presented in a black presentation box, the coin comes with a booklet on this historic birthday celebration.
