Half Doll

A very rare half doll which in all my years of collecting I have only seen a few times on Ebay. She can be seen in Vol. 1 of the Lorrin Half Doll Books, page 129. She comes under the section for Galluba & Hofmann. She has an impressed number on the back. This type of doll was particularly difficult to make because pieces were attached to the main body, like the flowers in their pot for example. The lady stands approx. 2 3/4 inches tall and is approx. 2 inches across herself and the flowers in pot. 

She is beautifully done with a large hat with a top hat kind of look which is white on the exterior and a very pale orche colour inside the brim. There is a large pink bow on the hat around the crown with the bow part standing proud from the top of the hat. Her face is very pretty with moulded features in the porcelain. Her cheeks are flushed and her lips are red. She has black eyes with fine black lines over the eyelid and I am sure I can see touches of blue in the eyes too. Her eyebrows are fine and the same colour as her hair which is curled. There is another fine line between the eyebrows and the lids which gives more emphasize to the eyes. Her hair falls in ringlets around her neck and at the back beneath the hat too. She wears a top with sleeves that end at the elbows with wide white frills. The collar of the top is very impressive with many rows of frills in white. Top is very pale blue in colour. One hand is holding the base of the flower container whilst the other is holding onto the stem of the flower. The flower head comprises lots of flowers making up the head and these are done in lavender with white. The pot is square in shape. Photographs taken on a very dark day so lots of grain as I had my settings very high. She is delicately coloured and much nicer in person. Finally, for some reason in one of the photographs, on the face she looks as though she has a darker streak. This is NOT there. Must be something to do with the lighting conditions.

She is in very good to excellent vintage condition. She has been a treasured member of my half doll collection.
