From the German factory of Berthold Batz is this great Christmas candy container with Googly Girl & Boy Bonnet heads made by Recknagel. The googly bisque heads are marked R 44 A and R 43 A on each head.  The  Googly brother & sister on sled are from the sample room of Berthold Batz Toy Factory in Germany. The quality of the bisque is wonderful, the bisque heads have no damage, they were unplayed with.  The clothing seems to be very dark in areas, it looks like may be due to the wood heat used for many years in the factory. It is only on the areas that were outer facing, the inside areas look clean. I have not tried to clean any clothing, I will leave that up to the new owner. The details of the clothing is wonderful with woolen coats and scarfs and mittens.  This sled is 7.5" long x 5.5- 6" high, the dolls are about 5.5" seated.  They are made with bisque head attached to wooden chest with wood painted hands and feet on wires to pose them. he detail to the painted boos id wonderful, I have never seen any like that before. The bottom of the seated doll is a candy container, it fits very tightly, never used. The dolls are each fitted with a dowel to hold them onto their sled. The wood sled is impressed into the wood made in Germany, the containers have the round blue stamp, made in Germany. I believe the googly dolls are from 1915 and were left on display to order from until 1930's when the toy factories was forced to close due to War.

These are from my private collection, first time up for sale. The last two photos show the other candy containers from the Batz factory. The St. Nicholas is bent pulling the sleigh of Heubach children is a 24" tall Store Display. It is much larger version of these wonderful sets of dolls on sled from 1900!  This candy container was a Christmas gift for a special child or adult for under the Chrisms tree.  Don't miss out on these great Googly Bonnet Head bisque dolls on sled! Please ask any questions you have, I can send additional photos.
