---VIDEO GUIDE TO MEASURING (Example suit)---

The Essential Guide to my Listings

Ebay is a high functioning heavy weight boxer standing behind the customer watching the seller complete the transaction, so please buy with confidence. For 'Buy It Now items' Pay Pal guarantees your money.
On top of this I'm a nice guy, I care about my listings and that things go smoothly.

It's difficult for online buying to be more hassle free.

Returns up to 30 days and are NO QUESTIONS ASKED.

A return cost about £3, less time and money than getting in a car and going to a shop only to return something.

Avoiding returns is the aim. To help acheive this I keep the listings as simple as possible.
No marketing hype. No small print clause lost somewhere in the description. I like the least amount of required information. With that in mind.

In almost all cases everything you need to know is in the 7-12 photos of the item and the small amount of text directly below in the 'ITEM SPECIFICS'. The second PHOTOGRAPH will contain all the measurements.
Any special issues or damage is mentioned here and photographed with
RED MARKINGS to point it out.

Really that's it. I go through nearly a 1000 suits a month, i pick what i think is desirable & will sell smoothly. If you have questions after that you may find the answers below.

Most returns are because something doesn't fit so it's well worth investing 5-10 minutes to know your measurements.
It's something a man should know. Don't just leave it to your wife or mum.
To overcome disappointment both you and I need to measure in the same way.

Measuring a suit.

The title description provides CHEST, WAIST AND LEG. Good but not enough. Two thirds of a movie.

The second photo in the gallery provides the rest. Often the difference between having to return something or not.
From here the best way forward would be to get a suit that fits (or nearly fits you) and measure it using the same methods as me (and most other ebay seller). From there you can determine what sizes you require from a suit.

Methods is use to measure.

Photos used are of an EXAMPLE SUIT, not the one in the listing.

Lay the Jacket front facing.

The tape measures the cloth
pressed flat but not stretched.

A common cause for concern.

The ARMPIT measurement may cause confusion.
If the ARMPIT is 21. Relax. The CHEST is not 42.

The ARMPIT to ARMPIT in the example above is 21 inches.
This does not mean the CHEST is a 42.
The chest measurement is usually taken a couple of inches below the ARMPIT line.
It
would typically be an inch shorter (in this case 20 inches).

To calculate the CHEST this number is doubled then 2 inches are subtracted.
A 21 ARMPIT usually means a 38 CHEST. 20 doubled is 40, take 2 leaves 38.

The chart below may be a useful reference;

ARMPIT to ARMPIT CHEST
20 36
21 38
22 40
23 42
24 44
25 44
26 48

Final thoughts on meausurements.

If a suit you like is slightly out or has minor damage a good tailor is more often than not an excellent solution. Compared to the cost of a new suit they are inexpensive. I would say compared to any fashion cost they are inexpensive.
Nearly all aspects of a suit can be tailored. Sleeves, chest to an extent. Waist, inside leg and leg width.
It's often a question of your own initiative.

Returns.

ONCE AGAIN RETURNS ARE ACCEPTED. No question. Just open a RETURNS through ebay.
Full refunds are made on receipt of the item. Please use Royal Mail 2nd Class Recorded.

OTHER CONSIDERATIONS & SAME DAY POSTING

Before posting all suits are steamed then neatly folded and packed in a secure plastic bag. If you want me to post same day as purchase please check with me first, often it is possible.

I personally would recommend any suit purchased should be dry cleaned. If a suit is 'vintage' or over a certain age having it dry cleaned should be done without question.
The suits do not come with a service history so a dry clean is good peace of mind.

VINTAGE SUITS.

One thing the British still do well is make suits. The golden years for the modern suit are gone, unlikely to return but the art of tailoring & cloth making still survive.
A couple of generations ago the tailors on Savile Row were in huge decline, in no small part due to the quality of suit produced on the high street with the average working man in mind.
Were they as good? No. But they did in many respects hold their own. Compare the goods of yesteryear to the high street of today & the only thing that has improved is the marketing in the form of very expensive Jedi mind tricks.
The humble vintage suit is well worth the cost of a dry clean and your renewed consideration. They are the Davids that brought the mighty low.

PAYMENT.

Most people use paypal without any issue. Happy to accept cheques.
If you want to pay by card and don't have a paypal address that's fine. I'll need an email address to which i will send you an invoice from paypal. You pay via their services for a nominal fee. It's straightforward.

ANY OTHER QUESTIONS PLEASE ASK.
