This is a Japanese made SEIKO Men's 21 jewel all stainless steel wrist watch. It is in great cosmetic condition with only some very light wear. It is in excellent running condition keeping good time. It has a day and date feature which functions perfect. It has a matching original Seiko "5" stainless steel bracelet band. The watch is a vintage timepiece, from the 1970's.

The company was founded in 1881, when Kintarō Hattori opened a watch and jewelry shop called "K. Hattori" in the Ginza area of Tokyo, Japan. Eleven years later, in 1892, he began to produce clocks under the name Seikosha, meaning roughly "House of Exquisite Workmanship". According to Seiko's official company history, titled "A Journey In Time: The Remarkable Story of Seiko" (2003), Seiko is a Japanese word meaning "exquisite" 

The first watches produced under the Seiko brand appeared in 1924. In 1969, Seiko introduced the Astron, the world's first production quartz watch; when it was introduced, it cost the same as a medium-sized car. Seiko later went on to introduce the first quartz chronograph. In the late 1980s, Seiko produced the first Kinetic watch that combined the self-energizing attributes of an automatic watch with quartz accuracy. The watch is entirely powered by its movement in everyday wear.

Seiko is perhaps best known for its wristwatches, all of which were at one time produced entirely in-house. The fully integrated in-house production system is still practiced for luxury watches in Japan. This watch was made in the 1960's while they were still making their watches entirely in-house. 

DESCRIPTION:

Dial: The beautiful silver dial is in excellent vintage condition with no issues whatsoever. It is signed: "SEIKO 5" at the top of the center dial and "21 JEWELS" at the bottom of the center dial. It has a day and date feature which works perfect. Down at the bottom on each side of the number 6 in small print it reads: "JAPAN 6119" / 7010 T AD"

Crystal: The crystal has a little bit of wear that can be polished out. No chips or cracks. It is very clear and clean.

Movement: This is a very accurate Japanese made automatic 21 jewel movement. It runs great.

Case: The case is in great vintage condition. It has some very light wear that you can only see with close inspection with a loupe. The back is signed: "SEIKO / STAINLESS STEEL 6119 / 7100 WATER PROOF / 7705249"

Crown: The crown is in great vintage condition and functions perfect. 

Band: The watch has the original Seiko "5" stainless steel bracelet band which came with the watch. It has an adjustable clasp. It is in great vintage condition with only some very light wear.

I do not polish or refinish any watch that I have in my possession. I leave it up to each individual buyer to determine if he wants it polished or buffed to a bright clean finish or left as is. I do make sure that the watch and all of it's functions are working perfectly before I list a watch. I am not a watch dealer or a watchmaker, just a collector selling some of my watches.

THE WATCH IS RUNNING PERFECT. HOWEVER IT IS A VINTAGE TIMEPIECE, AND AS SUCH IT WILL NEED MAINTENANCE FROM TIME TO TIME. THE WATCH IS NOT GUARANTEED BEYOND THE 14 DAY INSPECTION PERIOD. IF YOU ARE NOT SATISFIED FOR ANY REASON, YOU MAY RETURN IT FOR A FULL REFUND. PLEASE LET ME KNOW OF ANY PROBLEMS WITHIN 14 DAYS OF RECEIVING IT.
