This is a gorgeous and hard to find ruby stained sugar bowl with lid from New Martinsville. The pattern is Placid Thumbprint, #704. This sugar bowl is very large. The piece is signed. 

The majority of gilding has been worn away. There are scratches in the ruby (20%). There are 2 shallow chips on the "finial" of the lid and a some tiny nicks. See last 3 photos. On both handles are also shallow chips/nicks. There are pin dot sized nicks along the raised edges but otherwise no large chips or cracks. Overall for it's age, it's in very nice shape.
