Here is another gem from Santa Eulalaia but it is quite different from the immediately prior listing.

Quick because I am minimizing the number of pictures and, to some degree, the description. Sweet because this enables me to list more items and thereby enabling me to keep the price down. I have removed the ability to make an offer because, at this price, I will pay EBay and PayPal approximately $3.25 and shipping, including the cost of a protective box and a bubble mailing envelope, will be about $3.60.

In my opinion, some of the best fluorescing calcite crystals come from Santa Eulalia in the Mexican State of Chihuahua. They excel in shortwave ultraviolet light, unlike calcite from some other locations which often do better under mid or longwave.

This beautiful plate is no exception. It consists of a 2 sided plate of calcite crystals. They are translucent and off white and many of the crystals display phantoms within.

The main show results with exposure to SW ultraviolet light [pictures 1-3]. The fluorescence is bright red and some of it appears to becoming from the phantoms within.

LW [4-5] and MW fluorescence [6-7] are pleasant enough but subdued when compared to that of SW.
As with any fluorescent mineral, the more powerful the light source, the brighter the fluorescence.
It weighs 82 grams It measures approximately 3 x 1 3/4 x 1 inches.

3. The more powerful the ultraviolet lamp, the brighter the fluorescent response. Flashlights and ultraviolet lamps that purport to provide shortwave and longwave lighting plus a flashlight [and maybe even a can opener] and cost $39.99 will not adequately fluoresce most minerals. Neither will very low wattage shortwave lamps. The filter is the most expensive component of a lamp and for that price it will not be a quality filter - it will either permit too much visible light to pass through or not enough ultraviolet light. Either way you lose.

4. Some items will only fluoresce under shortwave ultraviolet light. Others only under longwave. My listings will indicate which wavelengths permit fluorescence and which do not.
