Why weighted blankets?

If you’re considering a weighted blanket, you probably already know the benefits of weighted products. They are known to help improve body awareness and to help calm the child or adult. They improve attention and focus and decrease sensory-seeking behaviors, specifically for children with autism spectrum disorders, sensory processing disorder, ADHD, PTSD, insomnia, etc.

How much weight should you use?

The usual recommended weight for a blanket is 10% of a child’s body weight plus 1 pound. For example, a 50 pound child would use a 6 pound blanket. Weighted blankets should be used under the guidance of a therapist. However, you may choose the weight you desire. Most people have chosen this 5 -7 lb. size for their children, and it seems to work well for them.

Special Orders:

I have made dozens of these weighted blankets, in many sizes from lap pads for children with special needs to extra large for adults who just really like the weight of them. I also make smaller or larger blankets, weighted or not, weighted lap pads, and attractive weighted vests. I am a professional seamstress with many years of experience.
