While the frame tubes weren’t designed with drag reduction first in mind, Scott still thought that an aero treatment mattered. They applied their F01 thinking to the tubes. And it did result in a hefty drag reduction. It can’t necessarily be felt on a ride, but the results can be seen if you’re watching your efforts. It takes 7.8 watts less to power this bike at 45kph than it did the previous iteration of Addict. And that’s not a small deal.
Wheels are where Scott secretly offers performance advantages. Rather than go for name-brand designs, they pull for their house-brand Syncros. Only these Syncro wheels have DT Swiss behind them. The highly-reknowned builder makes these RP2.0’s for Scott. The wheels feature shallow-depth aluminum hoops, 18/24 hubs, and DT Swiss’ highly-regarded internals. The bearings, the pawl mechanism are smooth running, and feature both low drag and long life. One of the mysteries of Scott is that they soft-pedal these excellent wheels.
Scott chose Shimano Ultegra 6800 for the componetry. The group, from the levers to the cogs, is highly-refined, with light, crisp action, and precise feel. The lever-arm on the front derailleur makes lifting the chain seem as easy as electronic shifting, And the oversized pivots on the rear derailleur move the chain under loak without breaking a sweat. The 52/36 and 11-28 eleven-speed cassette give you all the gears you need whether you live in the mountains or the flats. And the newly-designed caliper arm pivots make using wide rims, wide tires, and one-finger stopping easy. A real step forward in brakin.
