This stunning Monogram kit (no. 5600), dating from 1975, is considered the best 1/48 scale B-17 ever produced. It's still the best B-17 kit available in any scale, you won't find anything as authentically detailed from any other manufacturer.

The box is quite worn; the contents are in good condition, it looks to be complete but hasn't been fully checked, as it's a vintage kit it can't be guaranteed!  Some parts have been detached from the sprues and a few small parts have been painted, please see photographs.  Instructions and decals are included.

The cockpit interior and compartments for bombardier, navigator, radio operator and gunmen are fully detailed, with seats, controls and instrument panels; gun turrets rotate and propellers spin.  It also features a bomb bay complete with bombs and bomb racks.

Parts are molded in black/silver styrene and clear transparencies for windows and turrets. 

Insignia decals (showing signs of age) are included for two aircraft of the 8th Air Force.

The B-17G Flying Fortress became one of the most famous bombers of WWII.  This is an interesting American model, made in Illinois - it has a sticker on the box promoting Monogram's 'Wild Blue Yonder Sweepstakes' to win a trip to England, the entry form inside the box has a closing date of 1st March 1976.
