For sale is a fun inkwell made by one of the Paris makers in
the mid 19th century. It has a stamp box to the back (I think that is
what it is) with a Chinaman finial and the inkwell part in front of him
that comes out and has a lid with a butterfly on it. The quill holder is
on the left side of the china man and there used to be another one on
the right side which has broken off sadly! The piece is really fun to
look at! Nice scroll work to the base with gold highlights. The ink pot
is heavily restored but the bottom seems OK and the lid has a small rim
chip mostly to the underside. Otherwise fine. As is the norm the
piece is unmarked. It is 3.625 inches tall, 4 inches wide and 3 inches
deep.
