Adidas TechFit Powerweb Technology:
Technology applied to sport
The Innovation Team adidas (AIT) has introduced many innovative concepts with the garment TechFit Powerweb, high performance parts to a new level, thanks to the study of the movement of the muscles of athletes results in a breakthrough that can applied to almost any sport.
Compression
Compression is a widely used technology for improving athletic performance, in simple terms, involves wrapping muscles in a tight fabric. The base material used in adidas TechFit Powerweb technology is Lycra Power®, which offers industry-leading benefits compression. Besides the AIT group uses a combination of silhouettes and layers that allow maximum range of motion, power breathability and comfort.
Compression has a number of proven benefits, including:
- Improving proprioception and body awareness, which means better form and technique.
- Reducing muscle vibration, which decreases the energy loss caused by the muscles that move or shake during the sport.
- Improved muscle recovery, for providing less wear during workouts.
Powerweb
Powerweb is a series of bands of TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) that are positioned on the base layer of TechFit apparel. No similar technology. The bands are anchored at key points, such as around the waist or above the knees and focus on the major muscle groups (for example thighs or shoulders). Working in unison with muscles that act as springs. When an athlete moves, a set of muscles contracts while an opposite set extends; the bands mimic this movement, extends in the extension side to store elastic energy. When the process is reversed and the extended muscles contract, the bands snap back to their shorter length, providing the athlete more power
