For sale is a cup and saucer set made by Meissen in the late 19th century. The set is hand painted with the superb yellow Tiger design made for the Saxon Royal Court . A very colorful design in the Kakiemon style wich is covering the entire cup and saucer with Kakiemon style flowers inside the cup and a brown trim to the edges. A very rare set to find but sadly not perfect. The saucer had broken in half at some point with a chip to one end of the break which was restored. The cup also has a small chip to the edge restored. The saucer is 1.125 inches tall and 5 inches in diameter. The cup is 1.875 inches tall and 3.125 inches in diameter. Both pieces marked underneath with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark as well as the usual impressed numbers of the period. The cup has the black writing for the royal kitchen underneath - K. (Koenigliche) Hof - Wirtschaft. The saucer also had this type of writing K. Hof - Silberkamer but it can only be seen when held at the right angle to a bright light. No date on either piece so a bit earlier than some of the other ones I own. A rare piece of German royal history and the only cup and saucer I have so far!
