FENDER MIJ John Jorgenson Signature Hellecaster Strat "Sparkle+ Rosewood" (1997)

Squealing Pig Guitars Website Price £1599.99

Description

In 1997 and 98 Fender Japan offered this little series of three "Limited Edition" guitars dedicated to and designed by the Hellecasters, Will Ray, Jerry Donahue and John Jorgenson. Not only the awesome look and the rarity but also many special constructional details make these guitars very interesting and collectible.

I never succeeded to find out, how "limited" this edition really was. Every instrument has a serial number on the back of the headstock and I never heard about an instrument with a higher number than 400.

Even Jerry Donahue himself, whom I contacted, ever found out how many were produced.

This limited-edition signature guitar was made in Japan in 1997.

It features a black sparkle-finished maple body, vintage-tinted, high-gloss maple neck with reversed large-style Strat headstock, rosewood fret-board with gold sparkle dot inlays, 22 jumbo frets and Schaller locking tuners.

Refinements included three Seymour Duncan custom-voiced, split-coil, hum-cancelling pickups which allow players to get controlled feedback in distortion mode and a custom-wired, five-way pickup selector switch with an additional push/pull control allowing seven tone variations. Other touches included a custom two-pivot-point tremolo, a Wilkinson "Wilkaloid" self-lubricating nut, gold sparkle pickguard and gold hardware.

This guitar is in beautiful condition, showing only minor wear (mainly just some pitting and coulding of the original gold hardware, nothing major at all, just some aging). The guitar looks virtually unplayed. However, there is one noticeable ding to the back of the headstock and some very minor impressions. The finish and the frets look nearly new, showing only VERY minor wear. This guitar is number 108 in the run and, if you're looking, you know how hard these guitars are to find. This one has just been gone over by our tech and plays and sounds great! With the exception of two screws being added to the pick-guard for a Roland synth this Guitar is 100% Original. The original tremolo arm is there also.
