Bryan Whitmore Pointillist Ferry Harbour Crossing Antique Watercolour Painting

Description: An excellent figural landscape in watercolour on artist's paper, signed "B. Whitmore" and dating circa 1890 - 1900. Framed - This is an excellent pointillist watercolour dates from the Victorian period and depicts a beautiful, colourful, view of possibly a west country harbour. Depicted in blended points of purple and pink hues, the rippling waters reflect the colours of the mountains and buildings beyond. To the right a small boat, manned by the ferryman, makes its way across the harbour towards the figure of a woman sitting patiently on the steps. A sail boat is moored at the harbour wall, smoke emanating from the buildings of this little fishing hamlet, nestled beneath the rolling hills of the moorland beyond, the peak of one hill captured in the sunlight. A beautiful and tranquil paining of this quaint fising village. The work is signed "B. Whitmore" lower left for "Bryan Whitmore". The technique nods at Pissaro's Pointilism
