Fibonacci Gauge at your Fingertips

     This double-sized Fibonacci Gauge, or PHI caliper, is made new in my shop using attractive cherry wood and aluminum hardware.  It holds the Golden Ratio constant over the span of its points and can be used when creating small to medium sized patterns in any scale to place objects and components in pleasing proportion with each other and the creative piece as a whole. 

     The great builders of ancient Greece incorporated the Golden Ratio in the timeless designs of their wonderful buildings and temples.  For example, using the Fibonacci Gauge to inspect a photo of the Parthenon of Athens, you can see the Golden Ratio incorporated into nearly every aspect of that impressive structure.  Similarly,  using the gauge to inspect your own arm from fingers to elbow, you can see that the natural spacings of your knuckles, wrist, and elbow also conform to the Golden Ratio.  The same phenomenon occurs universally in nature and creates what we see and admire as natural beauty.  So the Golden Ratio can be considered to be a "natural ratio".  And using the fibonacci gauge to keep this ratio at your fingertips, you can adjust the proportions in your own designs and patterns and assure pleasing, attractive and impressive outcomes with your creative work.

    This double-size Fibonacci Gauge weighs  3 ounces (85 grams), and measures 14 inches long, 1/2 inch thick, and has a total span ranging  from 1.75 inches to about 21 inches.  It accurately holds the golden ratio constant over the variable span of its points, with a margin of error of less than plus or minus 2%.  It is universally useful to artists, crafters, sculptors, architects, drafters, wood workers and turners, quilters, and anyone who wants their handiworks to project harmony and beauty.  Medical and dental technicians use the Golden Ratio and related instruments in their work.  Even financial stock traders make important decisions while observing the Golden Ratio as it occurs in the rise and fall of stock market graphs. 

     Cosmetic Specialists: Please note that this size fibonacci gauge is probably not suitable for permanent make-up (P.M.)  The seven-inch model is suited to P.M.  (Please see my other listings.)  This size fibonacci gauge is useful to teachers to demonstrate the golden ratio on a chalkboard .  Or to an artist to lay out a canvas; or to a crafter to use with pencil and paper, in any scale, during the design process; or used on a physical workpiece in the craft shop when making that next measurement on a project.  Students can be encouraged to use a fibonacci gauge to explore their surroundings for natural occurrences of the golden ratio.
