Most of us would assume it's easy to find nice, relaxing, comfortable shorts. After all, there are millions of shorts made each year in India, Mexico, Bangladesh, Turkey, China and many other countries. And, there are thousands of styles and fabrics to choose from.

The truth, however, is that truly comfortable shorts are hard to find. Especially hard if you want shorts that are well made, fit your body correctly and have a timeless sense of fashion. We know because we have searched far and near for perfect shorts. We have bought and tried all the major brands--Columbia, North Face, Patagonia, Orvis, Champion, Adidas, Billabong, Under Armour, Nike, Quick Silver, etc.

Since we wear shorts most of the time and could not find a perfect pair, we decided it was time to have shorts made to our own exacting standards. These standards were developed over a number of years by considering the flaws and benefits of the many shorts we have purchased and worn.

Here is how we had "the world's most comfortable shorts" designed and made.

• The fabric is 100% polyester microfiber. This eco-friendly fabric combines beauty with performance. It is fade resistant, easily washed, quick-drying and breathable. It resists the sun, chlorine and other elements while creating depth and body in appearance. The fabric is extremely soft and supple yet durable and wrinkle free. It hangs nicely from the waist. It looks both casual and classy.
• The waist is secured by an inside drawstring and a “soft” but secure elastic waistband. The elastic waistband is not restrictive or suffocating. The waistband can expand a total of 10 inches from no tension on the elastic to maximum tension. This is important because some days you don’t want a tight fit and don’t want to feel “bound-up”. While this may seem like a lot of expansion capability it is not noticeable. The waistband is gathered in soft, tiny increments around the entire perimeter so that there are no “sticking points”, unsightly gaps, excessive wrinkles or over-extended sections.
• The front looks like a traditional “fly” but there is no zipper to rust, jam, malfunction or snag on sensitive areas. You get all of the appearance of a “fly” with none of the drawbacks.
• There is a very soft mesh inner liner that expels heat and minimizes perspiration and odor. The liner breathes with you and makes the shorts refreshing and airy. Even with this fresh freedom, the liner still supports and hides everything that needs to be secured and does so without being bothersome or making you feel “bunched-up.” If you prefer, you can easily remove the liner with a pair of scissors and wear your own boxers or briefs.
• The cargo pockets and rear pocket have Velcro closures so there are no buttons to snag or lose. There are also deep traditional pant pockets so there is plenty of room to carry whatever you need to carry.
• The inseam is eight to nine inches long which puts the shorts just above the knee for most people. They are not so long as to look like “Knickers” and not so short they look like a traditional swimsuit.
• The shorts are versatile and can be used for any type of sport or they can be used as casual wear. You can swim in them, hike in them, lounge in them or sleep in them. Or, you can go to dinner in them. You can literally wear them anywhere.
• There are only solid colors available. There are no loud patterns or crazy designs. If you want to add color to you wardrobe, you can do it with a colorful aloha shirt or a nice polo shirt or t-shirt.
• The shorts are tailored for a loose-cut, relaxed fit. All seams are securely stitched. The shorts undergo a series of quality control inspections as they are manufactured and all shorts come with a customer satisfaction guarantee.
• If you have ever had a “favorite” t-shirt, jeans or pants then that is the same feeling you should expect when you wear these shorts. They will be your favorite shorts because they are “the world’s most comfortable shorts.”

Each soft, elastic waistband is adjustable for maximum comfort using the drawstring located inside the waistband. The elastic waistband comfortably expands from no tension on the elastic to maximum tension (fully stretched). The drawstring holds the shorts securely in any position.

Small. Adjustable from 34” to 44”

Medium. Adjustable from 36” to 46”

Large. Adjustable from 38” to 48”

Extra Large. Adjustable from 40 “to 50”

2XL. Adjustable from 42” to 52”

3XL. Adjustable from 44” to 54”

I have a 40 inch waist and wear the Extra Large size because I prefer to have little or no tension on my waist and prefer a “loose” fit. If I want a “tighter fit” I just tighten the drawstring.
