Buyers should know that eBay has rigged the Ask Question function for sold items to automatically open a Buyer Protection case in many instances - and they do not bother to tell the buyer that is what is happening until after the Case is already opened!   If you wish to contact your seller and NOT open a Buyer Protection Case against them, it is important that you always select "Other" as the topic.  If you select "I have not received my item yet" or "Item description", it WILL open a Case against the seller, which will make the transaction a "defect" regardless of what happens after that point. 

The new "Return Request" function will also produce an automatic "defect" if something other than "Buyer Changed Mind" is selected for the reason.  The easiest way to avoid this is to contact the seller via the "Contact Member" link on their feedback page, or email them directly at their PayPal payment email address.
