ANTIQUE IMPERIAL PORCELAIN WEDGWOOD & CO LTD SUGAR BOWL & LID MADE FOR MAPLE OF LONDON

This is quite a large sugar bowl with a slotted lid for a spoon. At least I think it's for sugar, though could have been intended for jams and conserves.

It's not the Wedgwood company we all know well for their pale blue and white wares, but Enoch Wedgwood of Tunstall who began his company in the 1860s.

It's in very good condition, with no chips or cracks. The gilding is in pretty good condition too.

The base has two handles with gilding highlighting around the join with the body and along their length. It stands on a shallow foot. The lid also has a handle rather than a knop and is decorated with gold in the same way as the handles on the base. There's also gilding around the edge of the lid, the top edge of the base and around the foot. It's decorated with small flowers and roses, with a Garland of leaves weaving its way round lid and base.

The backstamp is the one used around 1906 and is very clear. There's also a backstamp for "Maple London" with these words set inside a black Maple leaf. This suggests it was made for and sold by the Furnishing Retail store Maple of London.

It measures about 12cms tall to the top of the lid handle, and about 16cms from handle to handle across the base.

Please study the photographs as part of the description.   Apologies, some of the photos have a slight yellow tinge which is to do with the Electric light they were taken in and not the item, which is a great white colour.

It will be sent via Royal Mail second class post. Payment to be made by PayPal within 48 hours of the auction end please.

I have other nice items being listed so please take a look.

I'll happily combine items, but please don't make any payment until I've amended the postage costs. This helps me to avoid a bit of hassle with EBay trying to recover overcharged fees. Thanks for your help with this

International bidders please contact me before bidding for a calculation of the postal rates to your country. I will only send items signed for, so this could push up the cost considerably. The buyer will also be responsible for any Customs charges

I always leave feedback and would appreciate the same, but only once the buyer is happy with their purchase. It also lets me know that the item has been received safely.

If you have any questions, please get back to me. I'm no expert but I'll try to answer if I can

Thanks for looking and happy bidding
