Description
On offer is a rare Qajar lacquer pen box or qalamdan together with an
original purpose fit silver gilt inkwell. The sliding lid of the box has
transfer images of three different women in cartouches. The sides of the box
have floral displays, again framed in cartouches. The elongated oval box slides
open to reveal the pen chamber and the inkwell. The lid of the inkwell opens on
a hinge as can be seen in the photographs. This is a distinctive Persian
antique that reflects Middle Eastern culture an aspirations of the 19th
century.

Condition
The box is in exceptional condition. The lacquer bears minor and
insignificant marks. The inkwell is in fine condition. The box slides open
easily and the hinge of the inkwell lid works effectively. Note that finding a
Qajar box together with its inkwell – both in this fantastic condition – is
very uncommon and an item that is extremely collectable. Please refer carefully to the photographs and use the zoom function. The
photographs form an integral part of the condition report. Please contact us if
