Cities (Midkemia)
Second Edition (1981)
Condition: Like New

An expanded version of the 1st edition, with new art, more encounters, and guidlines on personalizing the information for a referee's own campaign. "Right off the top, we recommend the Gamesmaster run no more than three, and preferably one or two, players at a time in cities. With three or more, someone is always growing bored while the Gamesmaster and some other player are haggling prices, gambling, looking for work, etc. These tables are designed to be used every ten to fifteen minutes of real time (or more often if things are lagging). "No Encounter" is built into the table to reflect the likely frequency of nothing of note occurring near or to the players' Characters in a particular area of the city. A larger number of encounters will be visual, not directly involving the Characters, unless they decide to join in. We recommend that if the players are involved in something, the Gamesmaster shouldn't interfere (too much) by throwing encounters at them. A significant number of encounters read, "...accidental bump...". This represents the jostling a Character would receive in a crowded street. This teaches players not to attack everyone on sight and keeps thieves from being quite so conspicuous. Another frequent encounter is "....recognises Character.. .mistakenly.. .correctly." This is where a non-player Character (NPC) either thinks he or she knows the Character or did in fact know him previously (even if the player doesn't "remember"). It could be an old buddy, sweetheart, rival, employer, slave, sidekick, or anyone else the Gamesmaster can think of, from somewhere in the Character's past. Or, the NPC could be mistaken, but convince the player they once knew each other. Or... As you can see, the possibilities are many..."

This package also includes enough background to create an ongoing campaign based in the world of the North Kingdom, in which THE SONGSMITH takes place, as does the previous C&S adventure, THE DRAGON LORD. This adventure can be used as an isolated adventure or within an already existing campaign.
The setting is the more recently settles lands, north of the North Kingdom itself. Beginning in Barrisglen, where THE DRAGON LORD left off, the adventure takes characters by sea to Dwarvendale in search of the long-lost city of the Dwarves, Khalezheer. Powerful help is available in this questwhich requires knowledge of the hidden secrets of Khalezheer from the time-shrouded depths of the past.
Can a party reach Dwarvendale? Is the wizard Thuvalae all that he seems, and what dangers will be faced in the Lost City? It is truely perilous quest, but overall rewards make it worth all risks!

Lionheart; Living in History Elgland 1190 AD (Columbia Publications)
© 1987
Condition: Acceptable to Good. Map not included.

It is January 1, 1190. Richard Plantagenet is the mightiest king in Christendom, nobles vie to increase their power, tensions simmer beneath the cover of an alliance with the king of France, and the Third Crusade against the Saraceb has begun.
This is the world of Lionheart. A world of good and evil are seldom clearly defined; where priests are sometimes corrupt and venal, and chivalric knights are often brutal and evil killers.
Lionheart is an experience not earily forgotten. It allows the reader to enter the England of Richard Coeur-de-Lion as a spectator in history. Events of the time are seen as current events, and personalities are alive. Instead of a pallid and distant view from the present, Lionheart is a living history that grows with each reading.
Lionheart is also a unique historical tool. A history of England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales to 1190 is included, but the heart of the text is an encyclopedia of towns, abbeys, castles, personalities, myths, and customs of the late twelfth century.
