This awesome receiver built in the USA in 1962 is an excellent performer. Wonderful details with glorious warmth and power. This receiver is exceptionally strong with plenty of reserve power that provides ample reinforcement as needed. This unit has tight control over the sound with excellent tone control flexibility that also includes loudness, low and scratch filters to further adapt the sound for any particular environment. All functions and inputs work properly. The Type 340 includes One Extra Input (CD/MP3/AUX), One Tape Input and Output and One Phono Input (LOW/HIGH/NAB Capable) as well as the Stereo FM Tuner. This receiver is such a detailed performer with just a beautiful, rich sound.

This unit has been thoroughly cleaned inside and out as well as the internal controls have been professionally cleaned and properly lubricated to provide excellent performance. All pots have been professionally cleaned and lubricated as well. All tube sockets have been properly cleaned and lubricated. ALL Electrolytic Capacitors have been discretely replaced to maintain the original look up top and resistors have been verified to be in spec and were definitely replaced as needed throughout. We use a stricter 5% tolerance when checking parts to ensure a long future for your "new" vintage purchase. Most specifications allow for a +- 20% discrepancy and we use +- 5%. All solder joints have been checked for cold joints and reflowed where necessary including the lamp connections that notoriously fail if not maintained and serviced.
We use Nichicon High Temp Electrolytic Capacitors (UPW, UKL, etc), Nichicon Muse Capacitors, Elna Silmic II Capacitors, Sprague Atom Electrolytic Capacitors, Panasonic Electrolytic and Stacked Film Capacitors, WIMA Stacked Film Capacitors as well as Xicon 1% metal film resistors when needed. We also use Bourns Multi-Turn, Sealed Variable Resistors as needed. Most consider these the best choices for vintage restorations and we always upgrade the voltage and temperature minimums on capacitors when appropriate to provide even longer service than the originals. All parts are sourced from authorized USA distributors to guarantee part authenticity. This unit is ready to go! It came in working from the original owner, but we thoroughly go through the unit and restore it to assure its longevity and that it's up to spec.
All knobs, switches, faceplate, dial disc, chassis, tubes and rear connections were detailed, deep polished and ultrasonically cleaned where appropriate. This cleaning process alone takes 3 to 4 hours with the complete dismantling of the unit. Even the power cord and plug get detailed and polished.
The Type 340 Stereomaster has a wonderful level of performance...arguably the best sounding and looking tube based receiver HH Scott ever made...a gorgeous receiver indeed! The beautiful design and look really sets it apart from the class!
All of the bulbs were serviced while the unit was restored and they look fabulous. All service manual calibrations have been performed throughout the unit including the FM alignment. The calibration is spot on. The amp is crystal clear and provides nice deep bass with crisp highs! Enough power for most any speakers!
All inputs work as they should. As stated, this receiver includes a phono stage which is exceptional. It exhibits authority in the lower register while maintaining a VERY quiet overall noise floor. This input will bring out the best of any turntable. Whisper quiet with exceptional reproduction of your coveted vinyl collection. The auxiliary and tape inputs sound wonderful as well. The built in preamp has an open and airy soundstage with a lush realism that yields awesome sound and accurate performance!
Excellent FM selection sensitivity with a full radio sound. Picks up faint stations easily and is a wonderful performer! The FM tuner has been properly peaked and fully aligned and tracks properly with the needle. Stereo separation is superb after this restoration as well! The 340 has a unique feature for locking in the MPX signal with an audible cue that can be heard through the Sonic Monitor setting.
This unit comes ready to enjoy in excellent cosmetic condition with minimal wear and tear for a unit this age as shown in the pictures. This unit was not abused by the original owner and comes from a non-smoking home.
