Description
Fender's most ambitious recreation yet! The Custom Shop has gone to great detail to replicate a 59 Strat. The results are indeed stunning. Incredible workmanship and attention to detail as well as innovative features. The body is Handpicked Light alder for classic tone. The 25.5 inch scale maple neck features a 7.25 inch radius Rosewood fingerboard with 22 Jumbo frets. The pickups are Josefina Campos pickups. Josefina is the protege of the illustrious Abigail Ybarra and her pickups are proving to be extremely in demand. These 59 models are clean and bell-like but with a little hint of growl. New Old Stock (NOS) refers to a Custom Shop term explaining a finishing process that isn’t a Relic but instead simulates a guitar that hasn’t been used at all since it was built decades ago: it has lain in it’s case since it was made and has little to no wear, no scrapes and only the lightest patina of age present in very light discolouration and fading of parts along with a hint of oxidisation of the metal parts.
The neck is rather special: it's comfortable and slim C profile (the most popular carve) with hand rolled edges for even greater comfort. Most importantly, and something of an exclusive on a Team Built guitar, there is a compound radius to the top of the fretboard: 7.25" down at the nut levelling out to 9.5" by the time we reach the high upper frets. This gives you the best of both worlds: chording is easy and comfortable whilst large bends won't choke out. The neck also has vintage-styled locking tuners to improve function but preserve the late fifties look they were going for. The Faded Olympic White nitrocellulose lacquer finish compliments the single ply black acrylic pickguard. The finish almost looks Mint Green - Very Nice indeed. A pile of case candy comes along for the ride as well. An incredible package that is sure to please players and collectors!
This Strat plays great with incredible tone. It is set up with the usual attention to detail of most Custom Shop instruments. The pickups and electronics deliver a variety of tones. A great Solid guitar. It has seen very little play time. Super clean NOS finish showing almost no signs of use other than a very minor Lacquer nick near the neck joint. As nice or nicer than many hanging as new in stores. Comes in original commemorative case with crushed velvet, embroidered interior.
