Beautiful – and rare/hard to find – silver chrome finish Leica Elmarit-M 1:2.8/21mm ASPH, Leica code 11897, made in Germany, late production serial number, complete with original lens hood 12592 A56 with lens hood cap (EXC++), original and pristine lens leather case, and rear cap.
Cosmetically the lens for sale is in a very very nice and super clean condition, showing only some very slight signs of use, i.e. a touch of wear where the lens hood attaches and some very slight age related wear in between the aperture ring indents (but you will need to look close to see it), however all is really minor and the lens indeed still retains a truly excellent overall look. Glass is perfect, spotless; there are no scratches or cleaning marks, no haze, no fungus. There is no oil on the blades. Mechanically all functions are flawless, pure Leica; focussing is firm and accurate, and the aperture ring is nice and crisp, clicking perfectly in place at each f/stop and half stop.
This is a really nice example of a top Leica wide angle lens, and it can be used on all Leica M rangefinder film and digital cameras up to the latest M10. With the relevant adapter (NOT included in the sale) it can also be used on the Leica SL Typ-601 and a plethora of other camera systems, including the Sony A7 series and the Fuji X Pro.
