Lots of attention to detail and well proportioned pieces. Appears to be hand crafted as there are no toy manufacturer markings to be found. The paint appears to be water based as the wood grain shows through on all of the painted pieces. Made of 20 separate solid wood pieces. Could not find any evidence of nails used in construction. The sides of the wagon bed are perfectly aligned pegged wood pieces. Only the bottom of the bed is made of a pressed wood and even that appears to be of denser & thicker material than pressed wood of today.
Alligator tail is made of colorful blocks and the eyeballs are round pieces of wood painted with a pupil. During storage, some of the blocks slipped off when the knot became loose at one end (a tiny pin is holding the other blocks in place as shown in last photo). Will need to be re-strung or use as is.
One of a kind vintage wood piece, has crayon marks on the bottom bed, piece of tape on bottom bed and name written in tiny letters on strip of Chevron Cars paper in middle of cart which can be removed or saved as part of the vintage patina. Appears to be one of a kind offering.
