    WELCOME TO

    .

    Heritage Concorde

The aims of the site are to bring you the Concorde fan all the details and information that you would require to satisfy your hunger for this amazing aircraft. We would like to educate through our forum and this website using experienced Concorde engineers, designers and crew so that people can understand how the Concorde systems, fuselage and components combined to make it the only successful supersonic passenger plane in the world.

We also aim to work together with other company’s museums and organisations to preserve, protect and improve the Concorde experience throughout the world so that future generations will be able to enjoy and understand the most technologically advanced passenger aircraft in the world even today! We also now welcome the support of our French Concorde engineering friends, who form the expert Concorde engineering team at Le Bourget, Paris. This incredible team have more experience than any other engineering team or individuals in the world, with regard to working on a live Concorde in a museum environment since its retirement in 2003. They are truly the real Concorde experts at this time, and we must therefore acknowledge their incredible support and work. Why not chat to them on our Facebook group, or even better why not visit the museum and see their amazing Concorde come to life, Concorde still comes to life in Paris thanks to these amazing engineering experts!

Heritage Concorde also has the support of other Concorde Engineers that consist of licensed B1 and B2 engineers as well as Fleet Technical Engineers and Fleet Management and all with 30yrs plus experience on Concorde. No other group can boost such a massive engineering back-up!

The website first went live on the 3rd March 2010, and it has quickly become a website that brings together the latest facts and technical information regarding the greatest, most exciting passenger aeroplane ever built. Heritage Concorde supports all the serious efforts for a heritage flight and return to life for the aircraft, and the preservation of all the remaining Concorde Airframes around the world, in memory of this technical miracle. There are still 18 Concordes preserved around the world in memory of this too short supersonic passenger era. These aircraft will now serve as a lasting reminder of the ‘Heritage of Concorde’, the unrivalled expertise and cutting edge technology in both Britain and France, that produced the world’s only successful supersonic airliner. Concorde was born of dreams, built with vision and operated with pride, Concorde has become a legend and part of our heritage. Concorde is one of the wonders of the modern technical world, the first commercially successful airliner capable of speeds in excess of Mach 2 (twice the speed of sound). Concorde is an outstanding aeroplane, it is a technical miracle, and more. For the men who designed and constructed her, the crews who tested her, and for those within British Airways and Air France involved in her operation, flying her, maintaining her, marketing her, and for her passengers, Concorde was a way of life. The story of Concorde is a story of survival, in her long history, she has been vulnerable in four main areas – Technically, environmentally, politically and economically. Many times she stood close to extinction, but she survived, thanks to the dedication, faith and belief of those who controlled her destiny at various critical phases of her life, until 2003 when a group of short-sighted men grounded her before her time. The design, construction and maintenance teams had overcome many and varied problems over the years, and Concorde became a safe, proven, reliable and totally unparalleled piece of aviation technology, flying the world’s air routes and causing heads to turn at every sight of her.

Heritage Concorde delivers Return to Life for Concorde (RTL), the only British group to achieve this task so far!

During 2011, following three years of intensive secret efforts by the Heritage Concorde team, British Airways Concorde G-BOAC returned to life at Manchester Airport in the UK. This was amazing achievement by the whole Heritage Concorde team. Concorde G-BOAC was restored back to life for the first time on the 14th March 2011, when Steve de Sausmarez, our founder and former Project Director and head of Heritage Concorde Project Flagship, was given the chance to move the Ground Power Protection switch to close. Steve has now left our group, and his position has been filled by Graham Cahill, who has now taken the group forward with great success. The engineering tasks were spearheaded by former Concorde engineer Ian Mosdell, Ian has remained at Heritage Concorde Tech since the conclusion of the project!
