This is the very rare R. LALIQUE Mascot hood ornament, `Cinq Chevaux,` only 300 were made, c. 1925. The amethyst tint is hard to get to show up in the photos. I have heard that only about 10-15% of them were done in the amethyst. This comes with a period base that has been heavily polished. Some letters barely show but not enough for me to confirm that it is a Breves base. The only damage I find is a single pinprick that is hard to see except when the light is set to show it off on the front leg. You might see it in the pictures. These are rarely found with out chips and this is the cleanest one I have found a description of in auctions and on line.  The original amber lens is included but is broken and is missing about 25%. An original photo of the owner with the car it was supposedly on  is included. But, the photo is not clear enough to confirm that the ornament is on the LaSalle in the picture. I bought this from the daughter of the original owner who said her father bought it in London in the Late 20's. A rare opportunity for the serious Lalique or car mascot collector. One sold a couple years ago at a Bonhams action for over $36000. The prices of the rare Laliques have been going up very fast lately. http://www.bonhams.com/cgi-bin/public.sh/pubweb/publicSite.r?sContinent=USA&screen=lotdetailsNoFlash&iSaleItemNo=4355931&iSaleNo=17327&iSaleSectionNo=1
