This listing is for the REBUILDING of Bosch 5.3 and Bosch 5.4 ABS modules for the 1998-2004 Ford Mustang including GT, Cobra, Mach 1, and Bullitt editions. These modules are also known as EBCM (electronic brake control module) or EBTCM (electronic brake traction control module) This is a repair and return service. These modules commonly fail due to a factory defect, which causes ABS, traction control, and other warning lights to appear. The symptoms of a failed module on a Ford Mustang

What's happening is that the ABS electronic control module is losing power due to broken electrical connections. If the module is broken, these symptoms will usually occur intermittently and progressively: they will start out happening every once in a while and progress to the point where they are always happening. YOU DO NOT NEED TO REPLACE YOUR ENTIRE PUMP TO FIX THIS! All you have to do is remove the ABS electronic control module (EBCM) and send it to me for repair. The EBCM is not connected to the hydraulic lines of the brake system, so you can still drive your car while it is out for repair; you just won't have ABS functionality (which you don't anyway if your module is broken).

HOW THIS WORKS:
Once you pay for the auction, you will need to send me your module for repair. You will need to remove the module from your car or have a mechanic remove it for you. Follow the removal instructions below.
Make sure you package the module well (press duct tape against the bottom solenoids to prevent movement and wrap the module in bubble wrap).
I will repair it typically within 1-3 business days and send it back to you. Upon receiving it, you will re-install it and the ABS lights should go away. You may need to clear out all the old DTC codes (usually not necessary).
Removal instructions:
The module is bolted directly to the ABS pump in the engine compartment with 6 Torx screws.
You will need to remove these 6 screws and gently slide the large harness connector off the module and pull out the small 2-wire connector on the bottom (held with a clip).
The module is located behind the radiator on the passenger side. It is a tight fit, so most people prefer to remove the entire ABS assembly, which involves disconnecting the brake lines.
Unless you are a mechanic, I recommend that you let a professional remove the module if the brake lines are going to be removed. The brake lines will need to be bled after re-installation.
However, it is possible to remove the module without removing the brake lines. Here is a video that someone made and posted on YouTube showing how to do this: Video of Removal
Even if you don't remove the brake lines, I do not recommend driving the car with the module off. If you do remove the ABS pump and brake lines, you CANNOT drive the car until the module is replaced and the lines are bled of air. Your brakes will not work!
Please make sure that you have a BOSCH 5.3 or 5.4 module before you pay for this service!
Also, please make sure that all of your wheel speed sensors are functioning (they can also cause the ABS light).
If your ABS module looks similar to the one in the picture below (yours may be smaller/narrower and have a black bottom), then it is repairable.

The number on the sticker on top of the module will look something like "610 183 51766" but it likely will not be this exact number.
