What
are spring bars?
Most
modern watch straps and bracelets are held in place by using spring
bars, which are spring mounted pins. If you are ordering spring bars
you need to first establish if these are suitable for your watch or
if your existing strap is held in place by some other means (ie.
screws, split pins, fixed lugs etc).
Will
this strap fit your watch?
The
fitting size options indicate the width of the strap at the ends
which fit to the watch. To establish if a strap will fit your watch,
measure the gap between the lugs on the watch head (that’s where
the pins go to hold the strap in place).
Some
specialist straps have shaped ends and you will also need to consider
this when establishing if a strap is suitable for your watch.
Is
this strap the right length for your wrist?
The
size data in our item descriptions includes the full strap length,
the length to the first hole and the length to the last hole (all
excluding the buckle). To see if a strap will fit your watch first
measure your wrist and then the watch head (from the top lugs to the
bottom lugs).
Add
the first hole length of the watch strap to the size of your watch
head.
Add
the last hole length of the watch strap to the size of your watch
head.
You
should now have two measurements, one shorter than the other. If this
strap is to fit you comfortably, then your wrist size should fit in
between the two measurements. If it does not, then you need to
consider either a shorter of longer strap.
