John Luke Eastman Track Star Lithograph 1973 Peter Max Pop Art Style

You are bidding on a beautiful and striking print created by John Luke Eastman in 1973. He is an artist in Southern California that gained attention during the mid 60s and had many celebrity clients. By the 70s you could find his pieces in galleries across the U.S. His work has been especially well accepted and collected in Japan. Many, if not most, of his works contain biblical phrases woven into the design.

The phrase on this print reads "But either fire, or wind, or the swift air, or the circuit of the stars, or the mighty water, or the luminaries of heaven, the governors of the world, they considered Gods. Now if out of joy in their beauty they though them Gods, let them know how far more excellent is the Lord than these… ”

Print contains a beautiful combination of browns, purples, burnt orange, yellows, raspberry and white.

The print is professionally framed in a wood frame with brass trim and features the John L. Eastman signature within the plate. The original gallery or exhibit sticker is on the back of the frame.

Print measures 14" wide, 28" high. As framed measures 15" wide, 29" high.

Comes from the estate of Betty Byrd and Danny Hoctor, famous dancers and entertainers as well as dance instructors from the 50s onward. They traveled the world performing on stage and on television. They went on to create the famouse "Hoctor's Dance Caravan" and Hoctor Records. They had appearances on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson as well as on the Ed Sullivan Show.

Very good to excellent vintage condition. Not examined out of frame but a slight waviness to print noted. Also a very small area at bottom right as shown in detailed image where a book lice or similar tiny creature seems to have gotten inside the frame at some point in the past and created a couple small specks of damage. This is only seen at very close inspection or with a magnifying glass. It probably would not be a bad idea to have an art shop remove the litho and clean it and reframe... even within the same frame would be nice. Only minor wear to frame.
