Have you ever tried to start your A/C on a hot day with a generator that (theoretically) should run your A/C? The generator struggles and goes into overload because it cannot supply the current required to start the compressor and the fan motor.
A standard 13’500 BTU A/C unit
draws about 14 Amp while running. The same unit will pull about 50 Amp for a
short time at start up. Starting up is the hardest task in the life of an A/C
with a compressor and a fan blower. A air conditioner uses anywhere from 4
to 6 times more power on start-up than it does while running.
Keep in mind; each A/C is different even if they have the same size. Some start
easy, others struggle, depending on how many amps the A/C draws.
An inexpensive and promising
solution is to modify your RV air conditioner with a hard start Super Boost
capacitor. This provides about 3 times the current boosting power (starting
torque) as the factory run capacitor.
Your A/C is able to start up easier while on shore power without popping the
breaker and you have a much better chance of starting and running the A/C using
a smaller generator.
On the other hand, it may not solve the starting problems all at once. Read the
page containing valuable tips and tricks to keep your A/C running even at the
hottest summer days (FREE - included with your purchase).

the A/C, but he can’t start it…
I installed a Super-Boost Hard Start and modified a few things, now we
