This is an offer to rebuild/overhaul/recondition your IBM Selectric typewriter, any model, I, II or III.

As an ex-IBMer, I have had a small private business doing just that here in Chicago since 1980. My service now encases all manner of printer and copier repair but the overhaul business is my unique specialty.

I have had hundreds, if not even a thousand or more happy customers who have made my business very successful.

Your Selectric, will be expertly stripped to the frame, chemically cleaned in a solvent bath, with another 'bath' in synthetic oil, (which will not discolor with age) then all worn or broken parts are replaced, (included in price) and the entire machine hand greased at all pivots, bearings and cams using modern synthetics, (which will not harden or discolor, like petroleum grease) and perfectly adjusted to spec just like IBM did, when they offered this very same reconditioning service for $350 in 1979. My print and correction quality are proof, as is the quiet operation of a brand new, properly greased machine. (I use a hot needle to place grease precisely) Selection, fine alignment and escapement are recalibrated after years of misalignment, induced by well meaning but untrained technicians. Spring tension and forced engagement, are relaxed and put to specification, as when new. (Many people claim their expertise on these machines but remain clueless as to the reality of their adjustments.)

I also repaint the outside cases, any color you choose, including the pictured red, white or black, tan, etc. Pictures are of past client's rebuilt machines. I also replace the sound insulating foam inside the cases and restore the cosmetics to new condition, a very time-consuming process that has my personal reputation riding on every unit. No loose keys, levers or excuses. No trace of old grease, ribbon waste, or any stray particulate. I use an old world technique (guarded secret involving water and steam) to completely remove 25+ year old, hardened, grease and grime, yet retain the plating and tempering of the excellent metals used by IBM in the seventies. These machines were revered by many and over seven million units sold, most at over $1000 (1970's dollars) each.

My machines leave here perfect and like a new mint set. The touch and keyboard speed are the real draw of the IBM Selectric! No other machine will ever rival it.

I relish my feedback so, your satisfaction is assured. One-year unlimited warranty on everything.
