This wonderful little vintage girl figurine with the little black puppy in her arms is named Nancy. She is about 7" tall and part of the series called the Poppets of Poppytrail by Metlox Potteries in Manhattan Beach, CA. She is unmarked but usually they have a drop tag or a ink stamp on the bottom.
This series was the creation of Helen Slater, a master potter, as a line of giftware for Metlox, who were primarily making dinnerware at the time. These little figures were wheelthrown handmade stoneware and thus they all have small differences. Very charming with a certain naivete and innocence-- different from the type of high glazed porcelain and pottery figures we are used to seeing. Unfortunately Metlox pottery has not survived, it closed at the end of the 1980s after 62 years of operation.
In all, Helen designed 88 of these Poppets. Sadly, she passed away in 2012, but she has left a legacy of many beautiful creations for future generations to enjoy.
I hope you will find this little one, Nancy, as winsome and sweet as I have. The small holes on her shoulder...I'm not totally sure what they are for...some say that they are putting artificial flowers into, some say it was needed for the firing...I'm leaning toward the flower idea.

I offer at least two types of shipping, usually Priority Mail and Parcel Post and will combine like items, that is, items that can be safely packed together. If the package is light it is possible to send First Class or if it is a book I can use Media mail--I try to consider all possibilities to help save on shipping costs for you.
