CDV of Captain John Murray of the famed 5th New Hampshire Volunteer Infantry of Colonel Edward Cross (Killed at Gettsyburg) taken by Brady.  Enlisted in October of 1861, Murray was killed during the failed assaults by the II Corps on Marye's Heights ordered by Burnside while in command of the Regiment, the Lt Colonel having been wounded and the Major killed.  Following which Murray himself was killed.  Period ink inscription on the verso.  Views of the 5th are highly desireable.   Condition as seen.
