Abandoned project 1968 Fiat 124 Spider shop

This early 1968 Fiat 124 Spider is from
the second year of production and the first year officially imported in to the
USA by Fiat.
While this Italian classic has not been
registered since 1991 it is remarkably complete and in good condition for being
47 years old. The twin cam engine fires up and sounds great. Shifter is a mystery (loose and floppy) but
gears can be found and seem to indicate a good transmission. Very minimal rust
can be found which should be a straight forward repair. See photos of drivers
foot well, floor under driver’s seat, left rocker panel and right front lower
fender, underside front area of hood. That is all the rust we can
spot. Each of these locations look to be easy patch repairs rather than
complete panel replacements. Amazing for
such an old Fiat Spider. Having said that this car will be a complete project
without a doubt.
Roughly 10 years ago the goal was to
restore the Spider and some work was done to get the engine running such as radiator
repairs, carburetor stripped and cleaned along with fresh tune up parts. And
that is where the project stalled. So in reality this Fiat has been waiting its
turn to return to the road for 25+ years.

This car is sold with only
a bill of sale. It is not currently registered and there are no plates or title
to go with the car. While the odometer
shows 34,833 it is not known if the mileage has rolled over or not. Also the car is sold as is without any guaranty or warranty.

So I guess I have bonehead tendencies sometimes. The listing says no license plates but clearly there is one mounted to the back of the Fiat. Yes the Spider comes with one license plate showing registration for 1991. There is no front plate or paperwork/title beyond the bill of sale that will be provided to the winning bidder.
