Description:
This is a classic late 19th Century Staffordshire Pottery China Victorian period King Charles Spaniel Wally Dog fireplace mantlepeice decorative figure.  This classic figurine from the Victorian period has a cream white ground with black over-glazing highlights to his coat.  The has a black collar, lock and chain, black muzzle and black painted eyes.  The figure is right facing.

A classic piece of Staffordshire ware from the late 19th Century, in keeping with the Victorian Restoration Revival period when these dogs were so popular as parlor decorations.  These dogs are often referred to as Wally Dogs in Scotland.

Condition:
The figure has suffered some damage at some period in the past.  He has been extensively re-glued around his chest area and there are a couple of large firing cracks, one in particular to his left leg.  The figure has crazing synonymous with Staffordshire figures, adding to the charm and authenticity of the piece.
