Published originally in French, as a Special issue of the XXe siècle Review the first English translation was published by Tudor in 1972 and reissued by Leon Amiel in this edition in 1976. The quality of this Amiel production is lavish, with fine-screened reproductions and superior materials used throughout. The folding plate is a reproduction of the original true lithograph included with the French edition though, despite the fact that it is stated on the front flap: "With an original lithograph executed by the artist specially for this book", and on the Contents page: "Original lithograph by Joan Miro page 6". The definitive statement is found opposite the folding plate: "Reproduction of a lithograph created by Joan Miro exclusively for the French edition of this book". "Exclusively for the French edition of this book" is the key phrase for the discerning shopper to consider. A sharp copy.
