Received the tablet yesterday, here are some initial impressions to those who are interested:
(Background: I am a lifelong Apple guy, own several ipads, iphones, macs, apple shareholder etc)

Build quality-- very impressive, this is not a cheap feeling device. it has a nice weight, and is very solid feeling. the back of the device is a plastic type material but overall nice.

Screen quality-- it is not a high definition "retina" type display, but it is also quite nice. good viewing angles, I would liken the display to the pre-retina ipad displays.

User experience (speed)-- again not bad at all, I thought it would be laggy but it's not, it's actually quite smooth.

Apps-- I am not an Android/Amazon user, but there seems to be a decent amount of apps. I like spotify, and the good thing with spotify is that you can play any song from your playlists (from a tablet) so this would be a great use for this device, the speaker sounds Mono but the volume is decent. There seems to be a decent amount of games available from first glance.

I am giving this device so far, a high recommendation- there is no way amazon is making a profit off this device.

For the price this was a no-brainer. I know awesome right! Outta the box, very simple to setup. Was all setup and up and running in under 5 minutes. To make this an even better tablet I installed Google Play store on it. Now I have what I call a Hybrid. It's a Android tablet with all the added features of the Kindle. The process of doing this is straight forward a very simple. Just search Youtube for"Amazon Fire 7 5th Gen Google Play App Store Install" by troypoint. You get full access to to the app store, so you can download all the apps you love on your mobile phone or Android tablet. There is another added bonus to doing this, I will leave that to you to discover. But It was a pleasant surprise. Working in IT for over 25 years, there is NO better deal on a quality 7" tablet with all these features out there. There simply just isn't. With the added Google Play Store install, this has been one of my top 3 best purchases in 2015. Buy it before they discontinue it or if you're on the fence about it, get off it and order one up. I use the Kindle now more over then my Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 (7") With the added features of the Kindle, the Galaxy Tablet is probably going to one of my kids. But which one, LOL. Oh!, and this thing is fast too. Not the greatest, but acceptable, video and pictures, but that why I have my DSLR and iPhone for.

Update 12/10/15:
I was so pleasantly surprised with tablet's ability to cast the video from my tablet to my Fire TV Stick! It was so smooth and effortless! So far this tablet is proving to be worth my money!

My first impressions:
I ordered the new Fire 7" on BF for the price. I have used Google Nexus 7" and Samsung tablets before. I currently use Nook HD+ Rooted with CynogenMod. As my eyes are aging, the 7" format was not adequate. I really like HD+ for its screen size and resolution and CM 12.1 ROM I have on it. It does everything I need now, emails, browsing, videos, etc. Google Play store has a few apps I use that help a lot! I thought I would use the new Amazon Fire as a toy for games and look up Prime Videos. I would root it or simply put the Google Play on it. That would justify the small price quite nicely.
I received my Fire tablet yesterday. Boy was I wrong! The tablet is great right out of the box! It was no strain on my aging eyes! And the stock apps for email and calendar are simply great! So is the Silk Browser. And I found VLC, WPS and several other apps I use.
Reading my Kindle Books was a pleasure! No problem! And Amazon threw in a 6 month subscription to Washington Post with the App! I have not yet turned on my Nook HD+ 9" tablet yet and am not yet missing it!

Some of our items are NTSC whereas others are PAL/NTSC. If the item is NTSC then you will require a PAL to NTSC converter for use in India. If you are not sure please check with us about the particular item that you are interested in.
