Aero Technium

The Aero Technium XS features Shimano X-Ship gearing for unrivaled smoothness and efficiency, Super Slow Oscillation for outstanding line lay and Propulsion Line Management System for great castability. When these features are combined with our Aero Wrap II, Instant Drag and CF Gear technologies you have the ultimate surf casting reel that provides the distance needed to reach the biggest fish and the power required to reel them in.

X-Ship

The Shimano X-SHIP takes spinning reel technology to a whole new level. Anglers will experience increased gearing efficiency and power, providing for ultra-light handle rotation. By using a large diameter drive gear, moving the pinion gear closer to the center of the drive gear to provide 20 percent more power, and by supporting the pinion gear with two A-RB ball bearings, X-Ship provides a smooth, effortless retrieve, and also virtually eliminates the pinion gear twist and rotor flex common with most spinning reels when fighting a fish. As showcased in the Stella FD reels, and now also offered in the Sustain FG and Stradic FJ spinning reels, X-Ship provides anglers with smoothness right out-of-the-box.

Shimano Instant Drag

Shimano Instant Drag allows a quick adjustment of the front drag knob to take the reel from your current drag setting to free spool in just half a turn

S A-RB Bearings

These bearings have been through the same process as our A-RB bearings, but feature shields on both sides of the bearings that reduce the possibility of salt or sand inhibiting the bearing's rotation.

Super Stopper II

Super Stopper II anti-reverse uses a one-way bearing that eliminates backplay.This provides the angler with instant hooksetting power. In some reels, the Super Stopper II can be turned off to allow backreeling for special techniques and situations.

Super Slow Oscillation
One speed oscillation - the spool moves at a consistent speed. Two speed oscillation - the spools moves at two different speeds. Slow oscillation - the spool moves slowing allowing more line wraps per cycle. Super slow oscillation - the spool moves very slowly forming almost parallel wraps of line.

AERO Wrap II
This two-speed oscillation system layers the line onto the spool in a criss-cross pattern that reduces line-to-line friction for longer casts. Aerowrap reels utilize a worm gear design to move the spool upward quickly and downward slowly to wind the line in a precise pattern, reducing friction and giving smoother, longer casting ability
