A most charming piece of Needlework, being an image of a man from the past, immersed in reading. He is watched by a bird over his left shoulder, and he is surrounded by lovely old books - even his feet are on them. Those of us who love old books can relate all to well to the scene!
There are references to knights and jousting, and he himself has spurs on his heels. It may have something to do with Don Quixote.
There is no indication as to the age of the needlework, nor as to who made the item. I have assumed it is antique, but it could be more modern. The colours, predominantly cream and beige, but with blues and reds here and there, are all strong. The frame, with its gilt border, again looks to have some age, but it has what looks like a modern backing board. Please study the photos. These were taken through glass so there may be reflections.

Size of frame: 64cms x 56cms.
Condition report: In very good condition, with no faults that I can see. Frame a little worn but attractive.

A lovely item for the booklover.

Free postage in the UK (Highlands and Islands extra I'm afraid), using a courier service for which I will need the purchaser's telephone number. I will send abroad, but it will be expensive: £25.00 to Europe, £50.00 to USA etc.

I have other fabric pictures, antique books, maps, prints etc. in my shop - please see my other items.
