Gold Hair or Ear Ring, Later Bronze Age, 1200-800 BC.
Sheet gold wrapped around hollow (?) copper (-alloy) penannular ring, ends decorated with incised circles.
Such rings are variously interpreted as “ring money”, that is as a form of currency, or as Egyptian rings of the same design as “hair rings”.
Length: 2.4 cm.

Provenance: Purchased at Arte Primitivo Auction of December 5th 2013, lot # 498 in catalogue page # 123, Ex. Taisei Gallery Collection, auction , November 1992, NYC lot # 109.
